This picture shows the Beaconsfield Young Gentlewomen’s Guild who meet every Thursday for community bathing and slimming exercises. ‘We’re all trying hard to lose weight in different places. I’ve got hardly any top left.’ says Peggy (bottom right). ‘I’ve got to get my bottom right.’ says Eva (top right). ‘I’ve got my top right, but there’s still my bottom left.’ Janet (bottom left) agrees. ‘I’ve got my bottom right, but I’ve still too much top left.’ Mary (top left) giggles, ‘You’re right. I’ve certainly got too much top and bottom left all right’. Diana (centre) refused to comment.
